CAN and CBC wish you a very Happy Earth Day!
The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970, when more than 20 million people attended inaugural marches around the country. Coordinated by Dennis Hayes, who was a 25-year-old graduate student at the time, the 1970 Earth Day helped lead to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act – hugely important legislative accomplishments that we must now take action to protect!
The Coastal Action Network and Coastal Bend Current invite you to celebrate the 55th Earth Day today by following our coalition’s work to push back on the buildout of polluting industry across our region. Working together to grow our movement, we can change the course of the Coastal Bend’s future, creating long-term prosperity without reliance on polluting industry.
If you want to support our work today, please donate to, sign a petition for, or just learn more about, one of our partner organizations – the Coastal Watch Association, Texas Campaign for the Environment, For The Greater Good, Chispa Texas, and the Hillcrest Residents Association.
